19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a torrid year, winning just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in specific - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial title following the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt after March of the previous year.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 various events.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters together, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six finals, including in that event previously this season.

The player's retrieving strategy and frequent outbursts on court had caused observers to question if his capacity to play at the top level was concluded.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and perform aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.

The champion came back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players swapped breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional title, seized the initiative to create a third set.

He saved four early-game break points in a close deciding set before the Russian broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured victory with a rally at the net, with his opponent incapable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
